Oral History Summer School Online Mini-Intensive [ONLINE]

October 22 & 23 (Friday - Saturday)
10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Eastern Time Zone (New York) both days.
Format: Online, via Zoom

This two-day hands-on workshop––open to all––is based on our popular 10-day intensive, covering oral history theory, method and practice. Over the course of the two-day workshop, we'll address interview techniques, recording tutorials, ethics, memory, annotation and experimental outcomes. Come all ye documentarians, journalists, artists, media-makers, educators and those looking to learn new things in good company. No experience necessary.

The workshop is sequential, and the second day builds upon the first. Please plan to be in attendance for the entirety of the two day workshop. Mindful of the potential physical burden of online learning for many, we plan our instructional days to include multiple interactive sessions and frequent breaks.

Tuition covers instruction, e-reader, OHSS workbook and other forms/resources, plus access to alumni newsletter/network and reduced fees for private consultation.

Note: While we miss coming together in one physical space, we view our online workshops as opportunities to bring unique groups of learners together, including participants who have not made it to our physical classroom prior to 2020 due to care responsibilities, prohibitive travel/lodging fees and/or health challenges. We continue to work on making our workshops more financially accessible through fellowships, work-trade positions and a sliding scale fee structure. Welcome.

Tuition

Standard Tuition - $500

Institutional Tuition/Supporter -$550
For students whose organization, university, or employer is paying their tuition. We ask those with institutional support to pay a slightly higher tuition to help us offer more subsidized spaces throughout the year.
